It has been an emotional, busy and unpredictable week in Retalhuleu, Guatemala. Today the team wrapped up the surgeries.
Tomorrow the last patients will go home.

Smiles are on everyones’ faces this evening, the patients, the hosts and the team. There was a lot of good done, a lot of warmth and gratitude shared and a lot of lives changed.

We also became witnesses to an act of extraordinary generosity. Today one of the patients, 54 year old Argelia, after finding out that her surgery was free, donated the money she had saved for it to AfS. The sum that couldn’t have been easy to come by for her, now will go towards helping someone, somewhere…
