For me, AfS has been a breath of very fresh air since I joined the board more than 10 years ago after being in the financial services industry for over 30 years across Asia and the US, serving mostly the “haves” and the successful.
My brother had cleft lip, and my family knew how much trouble our Mother had to go through to get him treated in old China, amid the ignorance and superstition, even though we were not poor. The dedication and joy I have witnesses while at AfS is a big driving force which motivates me to lend a hand and a big heart to this wonderful organization.
My wife has also benefited a great deal by serving in different capacities over the years. We are sure AFS will continue to thrive to serve the beautiful kids who are normally ignored and hurt due to a very treatable imperfection from birth.
